Sigma Tau Delta students excel in the areas of English language, literature and writing. The honor society has more than 850 chapters throughout the world and is the most active honors organization in the discipline.
The inductees were Hannah Cauthen, of Villa Rica; Madison Hunt, of Calhoun; Alden Powell, of Gainesville; Kristen Towe, of Silver Creek; Abi Valdes, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and Alayna Welker, of Douglasville.
Dr. Fabrice Poussin, assistant professor of French and English, was the featured speaker at the induction; his topic was Christian Eloquence. Dr. Mark Hamilton, assistant professor of English and adviser to Shorter’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, was assisted with the induction by Sigma Tau Delta Chapter President Zayne Allen, of Ocala, Fla.
Sigma Tau Delta rewards intense study of the English language and literature and offers numerous benefits. Members may apply for scholarships available through the international organization or for internship opportunities including working with a world-renowned publisher or one of many Washington, D.C.-based programs. The honor society’s annual conference provides presentation opportunities, and members may also send submissions to one of four national publications and many regional ones.
