Rome, Ga. – Celebrated musicians Qiao Solomon and Rachel Chung will be performing a concert in Shorter University’s Brookes Chapel on Monday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. They have been performing together as the Eureka Duo since 2014. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Solomon began playing violin when she was eight years old and has studied viola, voice, piano, and conducting. She has won awards in several competitions in different countries including the United States, China, and Ireland. Her expertise has given her the opportunity to teach masterclasses at universities across the United States as well as be a judge for the GMTA Concerto Competition for the past two years and a judge for the All-State audition. In 2015, she gave the world premiere of the commissioned solo violin work “Capricious Toccata” by Augusta Read Thomas. Solomon serves as the chair of the Department of Music and as an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Orchestral and Strings Studies at Agnes Scott College.

Chung has set herself apart as a pianist in several prestigious competitions including the 27^th Artist International New York Debut Audition and International Web Concert Hall Competition. She has performed at festivals across the United States and Europe, as well as taught several masterclasses at colleges and workshops across the States. She has a passion for modern music as well as long forgotten songs of the past. She has performed many of the pieces with many instrumentalists and vocalists including the Delaware Valley Opera Company and the Hudson Opera Theater in New York. She is an Associate Professor at Spelman College in Atlanta.
