Dr. Heath Hooper Named Dean of Shorter University’s Ledbetter College of Business

Dr. Heath Hooper has been named Dean of the Robert H. Ledbetter College of Business at Shorter University.
Dr. Hooper joined the Shorter faculty in 2012 as Assistant Professor of Sport Management and has served as chair of the Department of Sport Management. As dean, he will lead the Ledbetter College of Business, which offers undergraduate degree programs in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Sport Management as well as the Master of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy programs.

Martin, Jr. “Heath has a great passion for encouraging students to grow academically, professionally, and spiritually. Through his dynamic leadership, clear vision, and willingness to serve, we look forward to seeing our Business College continue to grow and become one of the foremost programs among faith-based institutions in the country.”
Dr. Hooper holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport Studies from Reinhardt College, a Master of Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University – Irvine, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a specialization in Sport Management from Northcentral University. He has served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Reinhardt University and Young Harris College.
“I am very excited to build upon the foundation principles established by former deans Dr. Dub Darville and, most recently, Dr. Melissa Hickman,” Dr. Hooper said. “I am grateful to have a great group of faculty who all bring positive individual attributes that contribute to the College of Business and our students. We will strive to help students grow as we prepare them for the next phase in their lives. Dr. Hooper lives in Rome with his wife, AnnMarie Hooper, a first-grade teacher at Main Elementary. They attend The Church at Rome.
