The Department of Computer Information Systems offers a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems (CIS). Most courses are offered in the traditional, face-to-face format, while some courses are offered in an online format. The department also has an active internship program with local organizations that allows students to gain valuable experience in various information technology (IT) related fields.
The BBA degree in CIS provides a sound foundation in information technology principles and practice enabling our students to find a variety of employment opportunities. The emphasis is on applications of information technologies supporting business needs, rather than the computer itself. Students earning a BBA in CIS can develop skills in web and application development, systems analysis and design, database management, and IT project management. Students are encouraged to include general business, computer art, as well as many other topics in support of developing a well-rounded study of the information technology field in the application in of solutions for today’s business needs.
Students completing the BBA in CIS; in addition to forming a strong background in information technologies will develop a firm foundation in the skills required to support business operational needs. Student may study in areas such as accounting, economics, general business, marketing, and management in order to complete the requirements for this degree program.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of BBA in CIS may choose to pursue graduate studies in IT, business, and related fields, or they may choose to begin careers in industry, government, or other not-for-profit organizations. Graduates of the CIS program are prepared for a variety of careers such as: application developer, application support, business analyst, business intelligence manager, client services analyst, database administrator, database analyst, information resource manager, project manager, security analyst, user support analyst, web developer, web page designer, or webmaster.
