Mark DeMoss, founder of the Atlanta-based DeMoss public relations firm, will be the featured speaker at Shorter University’s Spring Commencement on Friday, May 6.

Shorter’s commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Forum in downtown Rome. Tickets are required for admission. An estimated 339 graduates are expected to receive their degrees during the ceremony.

“We are delighted to announce that Mark DeMoss will be the featured speaker at our Spring Commencement,” said Shorter University President Dr. Don Dowless. “Mr. DeMoss is a committed Christian who has successfully integrated his faith into his professional life, and he provides a wonderful example for our graduates as they prepare to go forth and serve Christ in their chosen fields.”

Mr. DeMoss founded the public relations firm that bears his name in 1991. DeMoss is now the largest public relations firm in the country representing faith-based organizations and causes exclusively. The company serves mostly not-for-profit organizations with combined annual revenues in excess of $1 billion. DeMoss’ full range of public relations services include strategic counsel, media relations, advocacy, crisis management/communications, branding, marketing and advertising.

A Philadelphia native, Mr. DeMoss is the author of “The Little Red Book of Wisdom,” which was published by Thomas Nelson in 2007 and re-released in 2011; the book has sold more than 70,000 copies. In January 2009, Mr. DeMoss founded The Civility Project, a bi-partisan effort promoting civility in the public square, which he operated for two years before dissolving it. He also served as a senior advisor to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012.

A graduate of Liberty University with a degree in Political Science, DeMoss and his wife, April, have three children and two grandsons. They attend Passion City Church in Atlanta.
