Thanksgiving and Christmas are times to remember and acknowledge those who have been a part of our lives.  It is a time of gifts and giving.  We give to individuals, organizations, institutions, causes and many other things every day that affected who we have become.  We give because someone or something touched and influenced our lives.  We give to an organization or institution that helped us to become smarter or more successful in ways that would have been impossible without that group.  Through the thoughtfulness and generosity of others our lives have been enriched and we are better, stronger individuals.  The list goes on and on.

With this in mind, November 29, 2016, has been set aside as a day of giving.  In some way Shorter University may be or have been a part of your life.  Possibly you are a Shorter graduate or you may have a Shorter graduate working with you that is an outstanding individual.  At some point, you might have been able to be part of the investment Shorter made in the lives of students and you want to see that work continue for other deserving students.  Maybe because Shorter is a business in your community you benefit through Shorter’s students, faculty and staff being your customers.  You or your child may have been able to go to college because Shorter awarded a needed scholarship and now you are in the position to pay it forward.  Whatever your connection or however you have been touched by Shorter, by giving you are part of something bigger and greater than you can ever do by yourself.

Begin now thinking about Giving Day on November 29^th and make plans to donate on that Tuesday.  Shorter is so grateful for each of you and the part you have played in the life of the University.  You are a blessing to the Shorter University family!  Not only will you bless others, but by giving you will be blessed!  Shorter needs you and your support to make a difference in the lives of its’ students and the students of the future!
